Rajarshi Janak University (RJU) and Kathmandu University (KU) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration in academic and research activities. This strategic partnership marks a significant milestone in Nepal’s higher education sector, aiming to foster innovation, resource sharing, and interdisciplinary learning.
Established in 1991, KU has garnered a global reputation for excellence across a range of disciplines, including engineering, arts, law, science, management, medicine, and education. On the other hand, RJU, founded in 2017, has rapidly emerged as a leading institution in Nepal, known for its modern and interdisciplinary curriculum.
The MoU, signed by KU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa and RJU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Amar Prasad Yadav, outlines a framework for cooperation that includes the development of joint academic programs, faculty and staff exchanges, and the sharing of resources such as laboratory facilities. A joint committee will be established to oversee the implementation of these initiatives, meeting biannually to review progress and ensure the objectives are being met.
“This partnership represents a significant step towards enhancing the quality and breadth of higher education in Nepal,” said Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa of KU. “By combining our strengths, we can offer more diverse and comprehensive opportunities to our students and faculty.”
Prof. Dr. Amar Prasad Yadav of RJU echoed these sentiments, highlighting the mutual benefits of the collaboration. “Our shared vision for academic excellence and innovation will drive both institutions forward, fostering an environment where students and researchers can thrive.”
Effective immediately, the agreement will remain valid for five years, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual consent. This collaboration promises to enrich the educational landscape of Nepal, setting a precedent for future partnerships in the region.
